(Massacre, Dominica, April 6th, 2017)-It started off as a competitive match-up filled with trash talk, until one team ran away with the game.
Although they had to wait an extra day to make their season debuts, the Kelver Darroux Hurricanes and the Fast Cash Prowlers came energized for their battle in the President’s Cup on Thursday night.
The first half was a tit-for-tat, play-for-play contest, with the game tied 15 all after the 1st quarter and the Prowlers with only a 6-point lead at the half.
The guards seemed to be in total control of the game, then, driving to the basket and scrambling for each loose ball.
But then the man in the middle, Junior Isles, took over, ending the night with 20 points, 17 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 blocks.
Another notable for the Prowlers was Joel McIntyre with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
In a losing effort, Dwight Paul top-scored for the Hurricanes with 12 points, and 7 rebounds. Aldin Pierre contributed 11 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists, while Jerry Wright chipped in 11 points, 11 rebounds and 4 steals.
The final: Prowlers 79, Hurricanes 42.
Prowlers will now go on to face the PSC Falcons on Saturday for the President’s trophy. That game is scheduled for 9pm.
Before that, the young guns of the St Mary’s Academy and 767 Sports Club will face off in the first Under-17 game.
